Roaster Robert Gillogly began roasting coffee beans at home. His goal was to have freshly roasted coffee from beans with the characteristics and flavors he and his wife enjoyed. He began sharing his roasted beans with friends with the hope they would provide critiques to narrow selections, but each type was enthusiastically received and the selections continued to grow.
When an opportunity came to join with The Cottage on Pearl, a collection of artists and artisans, it seemed a perfect match. Upon opening in September, 2008, the customers arrived to populate the big table and the front porch to engage in conversations and share in laughter.
Small batches and custom roasting allow the Pearl Street Coffee Roaster to match beans from around the world with the palates of hometown and online customers.
